They force players to move, adapt, and fight for every piece of loot.
Helltides unlock after completing the main campaign and reaching World Tier 3. Once active, the entire region transforms. Every enemy becomes empowered. New demons spawn in packs. Unique Helltide commanders patrol the roads. The atmosphere shifts from gothic horror to active warzone. Players enter the zone not to explore but to farm. The goal is to collect Aberrant Cinders. These glowing red orbs drop from slain demons, destroyed objects, and opened chests. You never have enough. You are always hunting for more.
The cinders are a currency. They expire when the Helltide ends, so you cannot save them. This creates urgency. You must spend what you earn before the hour runs out. Scattered across the zone are Tortured Chests. These chests require a specific number of cinders to open. Mystery Chests cost 175 cinders and offer the best loot. Living Steel Chests drop materials for summoning the endgame boss Grigoire. Protection Chests give armor. Weapons Chests give weapons. Each chest is marked on the map, but Mystery Chests are hidden. The community has mapped their spawn locations, but part of the thrill is searching for them while demons swarm around you.
