Hey everyone, quick one for the experienced folks. We are a startup and need a chunk of IPv4 for a project that might run a year, maybe two, hard to say yet. Buying outright feels wrong when the requirement could evaporate, and cash is tight anyway. Renting or leasing seems smarter for our situation, but I am not sure what fair terms look like: minimum durations, price per /24, whether we get stuck if we need to exit early. What has your experience been with leasing rather than owning? Anything to watch for in the contract?

For a maybe-one-year need, leasing is the sensible call, no argument. We had a similar spot and chose to rent or lease IPv4 online rather than sink capital into blocks we might not keep. Terms were flexible: anything from a month up to multi-year, dedicated space from /24 to /16, and pricing on a /24 started in the high double digits a month with no setup or surprise charges. They sorted the LOA and assignment so we had it in use quickly. Since your timeline is fuzzy, ask specifically about early-exit terms before signing, that is the one clause worth nailing down. One clear monthly price beat the leasing quotes we got elsewhere.
